What Organizations do SLPs belong to?
In Manitoba all practicing Speech-Language Pathologists must be registered members of the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Manitoba (CASLPM)
Some clinicians also hold certification with Speech-Language and Audiology Canada (SAC) and/or the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
Do I need a referral for private services?
No referral is required for private speech therapy services. Healthcare professionals can recommend and connect individuals with services; however, clients, families, caregivers, and supports can directly access private services by contacting the provider directly.
If you have more questions about the services Elaborate offers, look through our services page or contact us directly.
Are Public Services Available?
Public services are available for all Manitobans; however, access to public services can come with long wait times.
Preschool aged children are eligible for free services through Children’s Therapy Initiative (CTI); family, caregivers, and health care providers can refer children for speech-language pathology services.

Once a child reaches kindergarten or school age; services are completed through the school systems.
For preschool and school aged children caregivers may choose to access private services.
For adults seeking public services they can be referred to outpatient services within their health region; however, due to long wait times and at times limited access individuals may choose to access private services.

Does insurance cover private speech and language services?
Majority of insurance policies cover private speech-language pathology services; often to a maximum amount per year.
Policies may be different so it is important to review your coverage or check with your policy provider.
If your plan does include speech-language pathology (speech therapy) services then your services through Elaborate will be covered.
What if I need other rehabilitation support?
As Speech-Language Pathologists (Speech Therapists) we work closely with many other healthcare professionals and are happy to help connect you with other services you may need.
Both private and public services may be available.
